Anna Jaques Martyrs NBPT

- WHY is Newburyport becoming another of history’s martyrs for Anna Jaques?

“Anna Jaques Hospital spokeswoman Deborah Chiaravalloti [$136,084.00] said in an email that the hospital had no comment

“‘The decision is final,’ [Delia] O’Connor [$655,097.00] said. [Deborah] Chiaravalloti [$136,084.00] had no comment on the union’s statement that its workers would continue protesting”

WHY does Newburyport have to fight Anna Jaques’ battles for it?

“Anna Jaques officials have… consistently [declined] to comment.

“‘It would be our greatest wish that we’d go back to our normal lives…’ [Michael] Roy said.

WHY is Newburyport suffering Anna Jaques’ inaction?

“Asked afterward about the IBEW’s presence,[Delia] O’Connor [$655,097.00] had little to say. ‘It’s a free country; they’re making their point,’ O’Connor said.”

“When asked for a comment…, Anna Jaques Hospital spokeswoman Deborah Chiaravalloti [$136,084.00] said, “…we really don’t want to be distracted.

On March 29, 1968, King went to Memphis, Tennessee, in support of the black sanitary public works employees, represented by AFSCME Local 1733, who had been on strike since March 12 for higher wages and better treatment. In one incident, black street repairmen received pay for two hours when they were sent home because of bad weather, but white employees were paid for the full day.

“All I’m saying is simply this, that all life is interrelated, that somehow we’re caught in an inescapable network of mutuality tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. For some strange reason, I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. You can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality.”

About the Author

Granted, the fights haven't always been pretty to look at, and even today, there are core values that remain at issue in this country, like health care - those who provide it, and others who, well... do something else. We are fighting health care hypocrisy because if ANYONE should champion the fight for quality health care coverage — it’s hospitals. And for us, to simply ignore this issue would be equally hypocritical.
